This Practice Note provides an introduction to the singapore international arbitration centre (SIAC) (or ‘the SIAC’). Additional guidance on SIAC arbitration proceedings can be found in the ‘Related documents’ pod. NOTE that on 22 August 2023, SIAC commenced a public consultation on the Draft 7 Edition of the SIAC Rules (the ‘Consultation Draft’). The Consultation Draft proposes significant changes to the existing 6th Edition of the SIAC Rules. Key changes include a proposed introduction of a Streamlined Procedure, provisions regarding disclosure of Third-Party Funding and new provisions expanding and clarifying tribunal powers. SIAC is also proposing implementation of a new electronic case and document system hosted by the institution. See News Analysis: SIAC commences consultation on revisions to its arbitration rules.

On 9 December 2024, SIAC officially announced the release of the 7th Edition of the SIAC Arbitration Rules 2025 in force from 1 January 2025.
