UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) has announced the establishment of, and £7m investment in, an Innovation and Research Caucus (IRC) to increase the use of robust evidence and insights in UKRI strategies and investments. The IRC aims to be a global leading centre of excellence in evidence, lead research and innovation strategies and interventions. It also aims to support Innovate UK and the Economic and Social Research Council in encouraging innovation in social sciences. IRC’s work will include—increasing communication between academics and policymakers, identifying areas to research, and considering how to improve support for the sector through interventions.
