Certain employees are either fully protected from dismissal or can only be dismissed in specified circumstances.
An employer could dismiss an employee on the grounds of ill health if they have been advised by an occupational health specialist that the employee cannot remain in their current job for health reasons, and the employer is unable to provide another job that the employee could do that would meet the health concerns.
