Employees from within the EEA (European Economic Area) and from Switzerland are allowed to work in the Netherlands without a work or residence permit. For employees from outside the EEA and Switzerland a work permit is necessary. There are different work permits in the Netherlands, as set out below.
Dutch work permits
The main work-permits for the Netherlands are:

•ÌýÌýÌýÌý Work permits (TWV), these are required for those working in the Netherlands for a period up to 90 days. A TWV can be requested at the Dutch Social Security instance, the UWV.
- Ìý
•ÌýÌýÌýÌý A combined residence and work permit (GVVA), this is for employees who stay for a period of longer than 90 days. The GVVA can be requested by the employer with the Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND).
- Ìý
•ÌýÌýÌýÌý Residence permits only. Some residence permits allow also work in the Netherlands. If this is the case then this is included in the residence permit.
- Ìý
•ÌýÌýÌýÌý For some individuals there is no work permit necessary. For example highly skilled immigrants. They
