9.5 Working Hours Act

The Working Hours Act (1982: 673) contains rules for the employees' working hours with regard to work performed on behalf of an employer in the employer's activities. Specific provisions on working time for minors can be found in the Working Environment Act (1977: 1160).

According to the Working Time Act (1982: 673), a central workers' organization may, by means of a collective agreement, derogate from the Working Time Act in its entirety or make deviations from certain provisions of the Working Time Act, such as exchanging breaks for meal breaks. An employer who is bound by a collective agreement that derogates from the Working Hours Act may, according to the Working Hours Act (1982: 673), apply the agreement to all employees.
