US1.1ÌýÌýÌýÌý The tax regime in the USA

The USA has an economy which in strength and size is only rivalled elsewhere in the world by China. Key development periods in the history of the USA were characterised by mass immigration. Consequently, different parts of the population retain strong cultural links with the countries from which previous generations of their families came.

The USA is a party to the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement which came into effect on 1 July 2020. This Agreement regulates cross-border trade between the three countries and is the successor to the North American Free Trade Agreement which had been in force since 1 January 1994.

The USA is a federation of highly autonomous States, with a strict division of powers between the Legislature (Congress),
