Under Non-Citizens (Employment restriction) Act, s 3, a non-citizen cannot be employed in Mauritius, unless the individual holds a valid work permit.
Under the Immigration Act 2022, there are broadly two types of work permits that employers can opt for the recruitment of expatriates. They are:
- Ìý
•ÌýÌýÌýÌý the occupational permit (9.2.1) and
- Ìý
•ÌýÌýÌýÌý the work permit (9.2.2)
As part of Finance (Miscellaneous Provisions) ActÌý2024, amendment to the Non-Citizens (Employment restriction) Act states that non-citizens holding a Retired Residence Permit will be allowed to work without needing an additional Work or Occupation Permit.
