3.6 Severance pay

New Zealand

There is no legal requirement in New Zealand to pay redundancy pay, unless specified otherwise contractually. As such, the employee's contractual agreement, along with any relevant associated organisational policies, will play an important part in determining an employee's eligibility to any severance pay and its value.
