2.2.1 Employees' provident fund (EPF) and employees' trust fund (ETF)

Sri Lanka

Laws relating to social security of employees are addressed by three main mechanisms. They are the:

  1. Ìý

    •ÌýÌýÌýÌý employees' provident fund (EPF), see 2.2.1

  2. Ìý

    •ÌýÌýÌýÌý employees' trust fund (ETF), see 2.2.1 and

  3. Ìý

    •ÌýÌýÌýÌý gratuity, see 2.2.2

In addition there is the:

  1. Ìý

    •ÌýÌýÌýÌý 'Widows'/Widowers' and Orphans' Pension (W&OP)' fund. This is an additional contribution that is required of public officers only. The contributory rate is 8% from April 2024 (Treasury.gov.lk).

  2. Ìý

    •ÌýÌýÌýÌý Social Security Contribution Levy (SSCL), see 2.2.3.
