9.2 Work visa, work permit and long-term resident program

Foreigners who want to work in Thailand are required to apply for a non-immigrant visa. There are several types of visas depending on purposes of the applicant, such as:

  1. Ìý

    •ÌýÌýÌýÌý business visa category B

  2. Ìý

    •ÌýÌýÌýÌý business-approved visa Category B-A, and

  3. Ìý

    •ÌýÌýÌýÌý investment and business visa Category IB

Foreign employees shall apply for visa category B (Business visa), which allows the holder to stay in Thailand up to 90 days as from the date of issuance. Multiple entries within one year is also possible under this visa subject to higher visa fees being paid.

In May 2024 the Thailand cabinet approved the introduction of a new visa for foreign nationals working in Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) (a special economic area designated for foreign investment in target industries). The scheme is divided into four categories: EEC Visa 'S' for Specialist, EEC Visa 'E' for Executive, EEC Visa 'P' for Professional, and EEC Visa 'O' for Other, such as spouses and persons under the visa holder's
