Historically, IHT used to be dealt with by a designated HMRC office – 'HMRC Capital Taxes' and then 'HMRC Trusts & Estates, Inheritance Tax'. It is now administered by the three main HMRC offices.

Customer Services

The main areas that the Customer Services office deal with are1:

    •ÌýÌýÌýÌý ensuring the correct amount of IHT is assessed and collected before the grant is obtained

  2. Ìý

    •ÌýÌýÌýÌý processing IHT accounts received in HMRC and entering data into internal systems

  3. Ìý

    •ÌýÌýÌýÌý handling
